Panasonic HDC-SX5 Review

Snip:
'They may only be small numbers now because they cost so much but high-def camcorders are definitely the future of home video. Panasonic is helping out by lowering the cost of entry to below $1,000--$899 USD to be exact for the new HDC-SX5 that’s due any week now. And it’s a rather unique AVCHD camcorder since it records at a full 1920 x 1080i—the upper limit of the format—compared to the usual 1440 x 1080i of models we’ve review before such as the Sony HDR-CX7 and Panasonic’s HDC-SD1 . Now AVCHD matches HDV, the tape-based format whose quality we like so much —at least on paper. We’ll get into this as we dig deeper into the innards of this camcorder. The new 3-CCD HDR-SX.

Panasonic Lumix TZ5 review

A 10X optical zoom lens, 4X digital zoom, a 28 mm wide-angle lens, and a tiny frame are only a few of the amazing feature that the nex, Lumix TZ5 possess.

The TZ5 is rated the best in its class for small, compact superzooms and a new Venus IV image processing engine. This new engine significantly reduces image noise, allowing the photographer to get a clearer, more accurate shot. The large 28 mm, wide-angle lens allows the TZ5 to take large shots of landscapes and big groups of people, which can be easily reviewed on the 3.0 inch LCD screen, adjustable to various lighting conditions. For all the movie lovers out there, the TZ5 is equipped with a high quality, 30fps movie mode, with a 720p HD output. Other important features that make this an excellent buy are its auto exposure and auto focus capabilities, its Secure Digital Storage, and its Opticall image stabilization. Although lacking in manual controls, Panasonic’s Intelligent Auto mode makes it almost impossible to tell the difference.
